Custom Milled Dental Crowns With CEREC Technology
Here at Main Plaza Dental, dental crowns are an integral part of many dental restoration treatments we perform. This includes implants, root canals, or simply covering and strengthening a tooth that has been damaged by trauma or decay. Dental crowns restore your smile, preserve the integrity of your mouth’s structure, and help you maintain great oral health.
Replace Your Crown In Record Time
With traditional dental crowns, treatment is completed in multiple visits. During the first visit, after a tooth impression is taken, a dental lab makes the crown while the patient wears a temporary crown for a couple of weeks. The patient then returns for a second visit to have their crown put in place.
CEREC crowns, on the other hand, are completed in one visit. The CEREC technology utilizes an infrared camera that takes 3D images of your damaged tooth and sends those images directly to our CEREC machine. Your crown is milled inside the machine right here in our office, providing us with the ability to complete your procedure the same day.

Crown Options
Many types of crown materials are available. Crowns have been made from gold, stainless steel, nickel, and more commonly – porcelain. An older type of porcelain ceramic crown was bonded to a metal shell. These “porcelain fused to metal – PFM” crowns were a great leap forward, but have some drawbacks. They tend to be opaque white to mask the dark metal, and the porcelain can chip off of the metal shell. An all porcelain crown has much stronger porcelain ceramic that doesn’t need the metal shell. This gives a more lifelike appearance, and less chance of chipping.
